J DAIMYO

Currently enrolled at the University of Arkansas, J Daimyo has been making music for five years since coming to college. Exhibiting strong writing skills while still in high school, J Daimyo began writing poems and amassing large volumes of work. It wasn’t until coming to Fayetteville, AR that J Daimyo got the chance to really express his talent for wordplay and powerful storytelling over a microphone and on a stage. Birth name Johnston R. Ewing, many fans began to call him J.R. Ewing after the famous antagonist in the TV series “Dallas”, and even though it still sticks appropriately, J Daimyo represents a discipline to his craft. In Feudal Japan, the Daimyo were the strategists and generals on the battlefield, second only to the Shogun. Johnston’s fascination for cultural music – specifically oriental, has allowed his pen to be a true modern day representation of his sword style. With an exceptional freestyle talent and ability to deliver elite verses, there isn’t an artist paralleling J Daimyo’s versatility.
